Omar Faruk ensemble

Last 6 June 2.006 we attended in the recovered theater Jofre of Ferrol (A Coruña, Spain), to a concert of Omar Faruk ensemble that we thought can interest.

Omar Faruk is a Turk settled down in New York that has an expanded currículum like multiinstrumentalist, that can be consulted in his Web site. In the Jofre did demonstration of his abilities with the voice, with the bouzouki Greek, with the flutes denominated ney (greater) and kaval (smaller), with the zurka (Turkish Oboe) and also with the darbuka.

The proslug of the ensemble of Omar Faruk is a loaded musical fusion of Eastern sounds, with vocation of understanding between cultures for which it leans in the professionalism of a set of instrumentalist virtuosos of several origins (Greece, Syria, Italy ...) between which is our American friend River Guerguerian, who made magnificent interpretations in the percussion.
